Loud beats pretty at thumbnail size

Feeds shrink everything. A delicate layout with four levels of hierarchy turns into grey mush at thumbnail size, while a giant numeral and six words survive it, which is the entire argument for this template.

The numbers also promise structure. A reader who sees a huge 1 knows how the next few slides are going to behave, and that predictability is what earns the second swipe.

Copy that can survive being set huge

Every word has to pay rent. A headline of four to seven words works; a sentence does not, because at this scale a sentence becomes a wall. Write the claim, cut the qualifier, leave the detail for the line underneath.

It suits countdowns, rules, hot takes and anything with a natural order. It suits nuance badly. If the point needs a caveat to be true, set it in the editorial template instead.

Before you export

Cap headlines at seven words so they still fit when set large.
Keep the palette to two colours plus the accent.
Number things that genuinely have an order.
Put the strongest line on slide one. This template has nowhere to hide a weak opener.
