Threads carousel generator
Threads takes up to 20 images in one post and shows them as a swipeable set. It is the same slide work as an Instagram carousel with a different audience on the other end, so this generator uses the same portrait canvas and the same templates.
- Bluesky4
- X (Twitter)4
- Instagram10
- Facebook20
- LinkedIn20
- Threads20
- TikTok35
5 slides is over the limit on Bluesky (4) and X (Twitter) (4). Those posts get rejected rather than trimmed, so hide or remove some, or split the carousel across more than one post.
This carousel lives in this browser. An account keeps it.
Everything you have typed here is stored on this device only, so it is gone the moment you clear your browser or switch to your phone. With a PublishQ account it belongs to you instead:
- Your carousels are saved, so you can come back and edit them.
- The images you upload stay in your media library.
- Your logo is stored once and reused on every carousel.
- Brand name, handle, and colours stop being retyped.
- Publish straight to every social account you connect — no downloading, no second tab.
What lands on Threads and what does not
Threads rewards conversation more than production value. Posts that read like something a person typed do better than posts that look commissioned, and a carousel that feels like a designed campaign tends to get scrolled past.
That is why the rougher templates here suit Threads unusually well. A set of sticky notes reads as thinking out loud. A polished grid of brand slides reads as an ad, and the replies will tell you so.
Text has room to work too, since a post runs to 500 characters. Use it. The slides carry the detail and the text carries the opinion that starts the argument.
Threads carousel sizes and slide count
Portrait 1080x1350 is the default here and behaves like it does on Instagram, which matters because the two feeds share so much content. Square works fine as well.
A Threads post holds up to 20 images. Fewer is better on this platform than almost anywhere else. Three to six slides matches how people read Threads, and a twenty slide deck is a sign the content wanted to be a blog post.
Reusing Instagram carousels on Threads
The files transfer cleanly, both platforms show 4:5 without a crop. What does not transfer is the tone. An Instagram cover that shouts "SAVE THIS" reads as spam on Threads.
The cheap fix is to keep the slides and rewrite the post text as an actual opinion. Same deck, different framing, noticeably different replies.
Before you export
- Keep decks short here. Three to six slides fits how Threads is read.
- Write the post text as an opinion, not as a caption. It is what starts replies.
- Prefer the informal templates. Threads is unusually hostile to obvious ad design.
- Reuse Instagram slides if you like, but rewrite the framing before you post.

— me 👋
Hi, I'm Alexandro 👋
I left my Software Engineer role at Amazon to build tools that solve real problems — the kind big companies ignore because they read spreadsheets instead of using their own products.
I was spending over an hour daily just scheduling 2 shorts across 3 platforms — logging in, reformatting, uploading one by one. That felt broken. So I built PublishQ . Now I create 4 shorts in 3 minutes and schedule them to 4 platforms in under 30 seconds.
PublishQ is bootstrapped. No investors, no vanity metrics. I build what actually helps you — because I use it every day myself.
Thank you,
Alexandro
