Facebook Stories safe zone checker
The Facebook Stories safe zone is the middle of a 1080x1920 frame, clear of the progress bars and Page row at the top and the reply controls at the bottom. Facebook has never published a safe zone of its own for Stories, so the reliable check is to look at your own image behind the real interface.

Facebook Stories has no spec of its own
Every number you will find for Facebook Stories is borrowed from Instagram Stories. Meta never published a dedicated one, and the guidance it did publish for Stories placements was retired along with the rest of its pixel level advice. Worth knowing before you trust a template that puts a Facebook logo in the corner.
The inherited figures are the top 14% and the bottom 20% of a 1920px canvas, with about 6% lost on each side on taller phones. As with Instagram, the percentages and the pixel numbers Meta printed together do not agree, so the larger reading is the safer one.
What sits on the frame
The top has the status bar, the segmented story progress bars, the profile picture, the Page name, the timestamp and the menu and close controls. The bottom has the reply and message field with the reaction and share affordances, plus a call to action button on an ad.
Like Instagram Stories, a Facebook Story carries no caption field, so the bottom band is interface only and does not grow with your copy. Anything you want read belongs inside the media. A Story is also capped at 60 seconds of video.
Before you publish
- Treat the Instagram Stories safe zone as the Facebook one. Facebook never published its own, and the interfaces are close cousins.
- Keep the words inside the middle 60% vertically. The top and bottom bands are both busy.
- Facebook Stories publish no caption, so put the text in the image or video.
- Video Stories are capped at 60 seconds. Cut before Facebook does it for you.

— me 👋
Hi, I'm Alexandro 👋
I left my Software Engineer role at Amazon to build tools that solve real problems — the kind big companies ignore because they read spreadsheets instead of using their own products.
I was spending over an hour daily just scheduling 2 shorts across 3 platforms — logging in, reformatting, uploading one by one. That felt broken. So I built PublishQ . Now I create 4 shorts in 3 minutes and schedule them to 4 platforms in under 30 seconds.
PublishQ is bootstrapped. No investors, no vanity metrics. I build what actually helps you — because I use it every day myself.
Thank you,
Alexandro
