Crossing something out is the clearest teaching move there is

Advice given as a rule is forgettable. The same advice shown as a struck out sentence beside its replacement is obvious, because the reader sees the difference instead of being told about it.

It also proves you did the work. A crossed out line is a small admission that the first attempt was worse, and that admission buys more trust than a confident tip ever does.

Pairs that work in this format

Copywriting fixes, subject lines, cold email openers, bios, pricing pages, commit messages, job titles. Anything where a short before and a short after can sit side by side.

Keep both versions the same length. When the after is dramatically shorter it looks like a trick, and when it is far longer the reader stops believing it is an improvement.

Before you export

Use a real earlier version rather than inventing a bad one.
Keep before and after close in length so the comparison stays fair.
Put the reason for the change in the supporting line, in one sentence.
Save the biggest rewrite for the final slide.
